The Body Shop Moisture White Shisho BB Cream - Review
It claims: This multi-action make-up base conceals, soothes and evens out skin tone. Corrects the colour of skin to give a one tone lighter complexion, soothes dryness and improves over-all skin tone and texture thus giving skin a radiant glow. Protects from UV thanks to its SPF 25 and PA +++.
Shiso extract - reduces early melanin-making signals even before the hyperpigmentation process and melanin production cycle starts - helping prevent uneven skin tone, brown spots and freckles
Vitamin C - provides anti-oxidant protection helping to reduce the production of melanin
Liquorice - works to limit the effect of melanin synthesis and helps to reduce the variances in skin tone
How to use: Can be used alone as a moisturizer for oily skin types, over day time moisturiser for drier skin types or under make-up to provide an added layer of protection.
How I used it: By itself. I did not apply this over a moisturizer, neither did I set it with powder or liquid foundation.
Price: Rs. 1095 for 30 ml tube
Ingredients:
What I liked:
1. A BB cream is traditionally used for two reasons, one to hide blemishes, second to help heal them. This cream definitely helps to hide red blemishes. I was using this cream while recovering from Molluscum, after the extraction I had lots of red, angry spots all over my face. This cream concealed them pretty effectively. It helped my skin look a lot more normal. The cream itself is beige colored.
2. It is very mild, the spots I had were all boils that had been extracted, but this cream never stung or hurt
3. You need very, very little amount for the entire face. Like the size of a small water droplet. Very little.
4. It is water-resistant, once applied. I discovered this by chance. One of the initial few days when I had just bought this, I coincidentally took out a little more than I needed. After application I rinsed my finger tip under running water, thinking it would wash off. Instead it spread and formed a film around my finger & wouldn't get washed off by plain running water. I had to wipe it off with soap. It does stay on my face too for a considerable 6 hours. I think it might be sweat proof also.
5. SPF 25 PA++. One of the higher skin products around.
6. Did not break me out or make my skin more oily.
What could be better:
1. it tends to leave behind a grayish cast if applied in excess. One needs a very little amount.
2. The price. Although with the quantity I use, I think this will last for 2 years.
3. The single beige shade they have may not suit all.
4. While this is excellent for covering blemishes, it doesn't do such a great job at dark circles. But then it is not meant for that - I just tried it out - you never know.
Would I re-purchase: Probably not. Because I expect the current tube to last me for a good two years, by then maybe more BB creams will be available (I'm looking at you Maybelline). But I would recommend this to anyone who has a lot of red blemishes or redness in their skin. The beige colored cream helps to conceal them tremendously, and it helped me tide over quite a trying period for me, when my skin was all splotchy.

did it heal them too?? i'm too waiting 4 d BB creams. dont like d one shade lighter concept so not going 4 ds one
ReplyDeleteI did find the whitish cast a problem if not blended really well with BB creams..bt ya der shd be a few more shades to choose..
ReplyDeletesounds great, I have never used any BB cream but now I'll have to think about it :D
ReplyDelete@Vanity: I didn't have acne, I had molluscum which is a viral skin infection. The boils heal once they are extracted by a doctor. So I don't think this cream could have helped heal them in any case.. I had redness due to the extraction which it helped conceal very well. I'm not sure if it helped heal that inflammation :)
ReplyDeleteBB creams are all the rage these days. We have a lot of them too from Korea etc. The most popular I think is from skinfood called BB mushroom cream. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeletethis one sounds promising, but somehow availability in only one shade and grey cast due to SPF.. i'm not sure if it'll work for duskier lasses..
ReplyDeletewill it go well on medium dark skin tone Tanz?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I am not buying any BB creams until I find my shade in it. No point walking around with full coverage of soemthing that's not meant for you. I hope your skin is fine now.
ReplyDelete@Anamika: I don't think it will.. The tint on the lighter side & it will need a lot of blending. It might work, but I am a little skeptical. TBS stores have testers, try it out on the face.
ReplyDelete@AOYV: I think that is the right thing to do, why waste money on something that wldn't look good? :)
ReplyDeleteglad you did the review honey :D i guess it will not my skin tone
ReplyDeleteHey Tanz .. It sounds so good . But even I think I need to check out the testers before buying . Wouldnt it have been great if they had come up with more than one tint ? *Sigh*
ReplyDeleteI have wanted BB creams for so long and got the missha one but hate it because of how gray it makes me look, want to get the darker shade. Hope the other companies have a good shade range!
ReplyDeleteSouns so good Tanveer !! Yeah i don think it will suit my medium skin tone..thats the problem with BB creams...they are only meant for lighter pretties like u !!! I hope some other brands come up with them !
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of BB Cream- melanin reduction and all. I might get it if it's not too light. That's the problem with BB cream, they are always too light- even the darker shades.
ReplyDelete♥xx♥
@CZ: I'm not sure this can accomplish any sort of melanin reduction simply because one has to use so little for the entire face, like half a pea size or even lesser. Any more & you have to blend it in like crazy to avoid that grey cast. With such tiny amts I'm unsure how much melanin reduction this thing can cause. :P
ReplyDeleteI heard somewhere that BB creams get rid of dark circles also. Don't know if they actually work though..do they??
