Inglot Lip Defence Treatment 01 - Review

It claims: See image below. I am reviewing 01 - the aroma-less, transparent one

Price: Rs. ?? for 3.3 gms (This was sent by the PR without any outer cover. I have asked them for the price, will update once I get it - today being Holi, I guess they are all out playing with their makeup. No one is answering mails / tweets / calls. But I'm guessing this should be around Rs. 150 as it costs 9 PLN (Polish zloty currency as per a polish blog))

Ingredients: Not indicated. I only know it is paraben - free

What I liked:

1. You the thing with lip balms. If they are nourishing - they tend to be too soft and slide around the lips, get wiped off too soon, and if they have staying power then they don't nourish as much. This one sticks around for a good 2-3 hours, but it is very deeply hydrating at the same time.

2. Another thing I don't like about lips balms - especially the clear ones is that some of them give the lips a very dull, greyish cast. This one is all about glossy shine. I can easily wear this on my lips instead of lipstick and it still makes me look made up!

3. Did I mention, this is one of the few lips balms that get to work instantly on my dry lips! and because it lingers on - they stay protected for quite long. It really does treat & defend at the same time.  I use this overnight when I have to wear matt lipsticks the next day.

4. I know, the color looks a ghastly yellow - but this goes on clear. The finish is a bit glossy and shiny because of which lips look really, really good! I have had people come and ask me which lipstick I'm wearing when I've had only this on.

See how shiny & glossy that is!
5. It works quite well with lipsticks, when compared to other lipbalms. Yes, it makes them a bit sheer and glossy, but it doesn't shave off staying power by too much. About an hour or so - and that is when you apply this on top of the lipstick and rub it in well.

6. It claims to have some exotic Vit E, Evening Primrose, acai berry & pomegranate seed oil.

7. This is really odorless and transparent. It doesn't have much taste also.

What could be better:

1. The balm itself is quite soft, so only remove a bit outside when using or it will start squishing to one side and get all messy.

2. I couldn't find this online on shopatmajorbrands.com, so I'm guessing this is available only in their stores.

3. If you don't like sticky balms or glosses, I don't think you are going to like this. My hubby tried this and he  didn't like it coz of the stickiness. This is a sticky one, so try it at the store first! Also don't wear this and travel with open hair, major hair sticking scene! Also it is shiny, I know that a lot of guys don't like shiny lip balms, I don't know why this is positioned for men also.

4. No ingredient information or usage information either. I couldn't find this on their site also!

5. If you use this on top of lipstick / lip liner, use a brush to apply or else the color will all bleed into the balm.

Recommended: This is a very good lip treatment! It works pretty well by itself - it moisturizes, looks fab, shiny & glossy and lasts long! It also works decently well under lipsticks - it is not as good as MAC Prep + Prime, (but then that costs 950!) but not as slippery or soft as Vaseline or other lip balms that I have tried. If you suffer from very chapped lips - this is a good choice. I suffer from very chapped lips myself, and while this won't eliminate the root cause, it does help the lips appear healthy pretty quickly - so it's like a good short term solution in a hurry.

I'm planning to get 03 - the vanilla SPF one next :-)

    1. Yup, this is meant only for those who are ok with sticky formulas in their glosses & balms. I used to wear a lot of gloss earlier and I'm quite ok with sticky lip stuff :D
