Allure Beauty Winners 2009
Allure the magazine is well known for its yearly make up awards. The 2009 list is out. While it features mostly products available on the US, there are some that you lay your hand on in India too. Below is the list along with the comments from allure. And you can read the whole list here at http://www.allure.com/beauty/best_of_beauty
EYESHADOW
Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow palette in Not Just Nudes offers a quartet of silky pigments to blend together or wear alone for a burnished glow.
EYELINERS
Many brown liners are hard to detect, but Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 19L is a toasty chestnut that doesn't look flat. (New Beauty Centre at Khar retails this)
Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Midnight. This lush indigo is surprisingly flattering and makes eyes stand out. (Try Shoppers Stop for this line)
L'Oréal Paris Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner satisfies both liquid amateurs and aficionadas. Its narrow tip is remarkably easy to control, whether you're going for an extra-thin line or a thicker, more dramatic swoop.
L'Oréal Paris HIP High Intensity Pigments Color Truth Cream Eyeliner glides on smoothly and comes with a brush for a flawless, flake-free line.
MASCARA
For Night.
Yes, we'll admit it—we crave big, vampy lashes. Maybelline New York The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara forms a full fringe that doesn't clump together, so we can load it on and bat away. (I love this one. Read review here)
Waterproof.
Maybelline New York Define-A-Lash Waterproof Mascara has a flexible brush that coats every lash with pitch-black, high-shine pigment—and it stays in place through the weepiest movies. (Another favorite – read review here)
LIPSTICK
Pink.
L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolour in Pink Lady, This is the lip color you wish you had been born with—and because it's so soft and demure, people will think that you were.
Bright.
M.A.C. Lustre Lipstick in Lustering isn't an all-or-nothing bright. One swipe creates a sheer hot pink stain, while several applications dial things up to a bolder fuchsia note.
Red.
Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Absolute Rouge, With all due respect to Marilyn, not everyone wants to resemble a modern pinup. This creamy, luminous red looks rich—not retro.
Long-Wearing Lipstick
Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor, $9.99.
Many long-lasting formulas deliver hard-core color—but practically feel like house paint on your lips. These glide on effortlessly and stay smooth all day. The best shades: Natural Cashmere, Pecan Pleasure, Red Velvet, and Divine Port Wine.
POWDER
Pressed.
L'Orèal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Powder. We're not sure what we love more—the gossamer texture or the polished face we see in the mirror.
BLUSH
Cream.
Loaded with pigment, Lancôme Color Design Blush creates a gorgeous flush that doesn't fade. We love Petticoat Pink for fair skin, Crème Couture for medium, and Chic Cassis for dark.
BODY WASH
For Dry Skin.
Johnson's Body Care 24 Hour Care Moisturizing Body Wash is packed with glycerin, so it's nice and creamy but doesn't make us feel as if we're squirting on lotion in the shower.(you should be able to get this at Alfa)
HAND CREAM
Neutrogena Age Shield Hand Cream SPF 30 with Helioplex contains a powerful broad-spectrum sunscreen to ward off sun spots; plus, it absorbs instantly to prevent any greasy fingerprints.
FACIAL MOISTURIZER
Oily.
Vichy Laboratoires NormaDerm Pro Mat Oil-Free Lotion SPF 15 noticeably reduces midday shine and helps hold makeup in place all day.
FACIAL MOISTURIZER
Sensitive.
Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15 Sensitive Skin absorbs quickly and protects against environmental damage with vitamin E. What it doesn't do: irritate skin with chemicals, dyes, or fragrance.
FACIAL SUNSCREEN
NORMAL SKIN.
Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 With Helioplex has a weightless texture that belies its powerful UV blockers.
Maybe I’ll put up my own list of beauty award winners 2009. Look out for my next post!
I have been trying hard to get MUFE eyeliner for a very long time now but have not found it in Delhi, yet. For some reason I have never been able to pick Revlon's cream eyeshadow. Have you used them?
ReplyDelete@ Rati: MUFE retails here, but i think it is just too expensive.. eyeliners are like 600-800 bucks. Just not worth it for me..
ReplyDeleteLike i mentioned in the post, this is just a list of stuff that i thght we could get in India. I have not tried all of it. Just the maybelline mascaras.
For cream eyeshadow i prefer Jordana, much cheaper and once dry they stay on and don't smudge..
I just found out where they retail MUFE eyeliners and the lady on the phone told me it was for rs 300. errr...i would have to visit the shop to figure out. these may be dupes as well. these days there is a new dupe going around in delhi, mac from hongkong. lol!!
ReplyDelete@ rati: It cld be the prices have dropped.. I had visited their counter like a year ago.. Maybe they just didn't sell anything & reduced prices.. Will give you a re-checked price in a day or two.. if you wanna know prices of anything else in MUFE lemme know :D
ReplyDeleteMAC from Hongkong! wow... I have seen these here as well, generally at the local dollar stores..
I love reading about Beauty Winners! The only ones I've tried r Revlon Illuminance ~ in some other color and Mac Lustering lipstick. Just bought Colossal for my Mom :)
