ATB BB Series 13: Reader Query on "Loose skin"

Sarah G posted a query on my last post:

Hi Tanveer, I need to lose about 40-45 kgs but I am really worried about loose skin (I am in my mid 30s) ---- did you ever find that to be an issue during your weight loss journey?

Since the answer to this a bit lengthy I thought I would answer this in a post.

First of all, despite losing close to 40 kgs, I haven't had to deal with loose skin. And I don't think I will have to either. From my own understanding this was a result of couple of things that worked in my favour, namely:
1. My diet is fat & protein. Both collagen & elastin are skin "proteins" that build the scaffolding / structure of the skin. When you eat enough protein, the body is nourished enough internally to divert some protein to things like hair & skin. Fat is also an integral part of skin cell membranes. By eating right you support your skin to deal with the change in size.
2. I really come from the belief that skin is a living organ. It is responsi…

Makeup & Fashion in Paris

Paris - the famed fashion capital of the world.

It has always been a dream of mines ever since I turned 15 to visit the city. Luckily fortune has been kind to me and I have visited it twice already!

It is without a doubt one of my favorite places in Europe. I really can't explain it but it has the big city vibe yet every corner bristles with references to Gods of ancient Greek myths, lined with cobbled stones, the romance of Seine's numerous Ponts (Bridges) & of course Eiffel Tower! It looks beautiful at night - the City & the Tower - all bathed in a beautiful golden glow.

During my first trip I was quite excited about makeup & fashion and expected to see the latest trends on the street. What I realized was that Paris's moniker of fashion capital is actually a bit of a misnomer. They dress stylishly and could be the epitome of Euro-chic, but they are very, painfully slow to adapt to trends.

And this second, longer trip where I traveled extensively by the City …

Olay Moisturizing Lotion - Review

It claims:Olay Moisturizing Lotion is a light, non-greasy formula which gets absorbed quickly and effectively softens and smoothes for younger looking skin.

This lotion is formulated with an exacted blend of ingredients to help restore and maintain a firm youthful looking skin. Its formula contains fluids so similar to the natural fluids in young skin that skin readily claims them as its own and quickly and replenishes essential moisture.

In laboratory testing, Olay moisturizing lotion has been shown to significantly boost skin hydration, increase skin suppleness and firmness with overall improved skin smoothness.

Price: Rs. 385 for 150 ml. You also get smaller 30ml & 75ml bottles.

What I liked:

1. It moisturizes yet doesn't feel oily or heavy at any point. It feels like a waterbased lotion that sinks into the skin without leaving any weird film on the skin. If you want, this product can be applied in multiple thin layers without any discomfort.

2. Works well under …

ATB BB Series 12: A year down the line...

It was last August 26th, that I tentatively began my journey on a new way of eating. What started off as Atkins, slowly incorporated more nutritional learnings from the lifestyles of Low Carb, Paleo, Weston A Price & Wheat Belly diets.

And what a year it has been. A year where I lost almost 40 kgs. I say almost because I didn't weigh myself before the diet. I had weighed myself around two months ago. Honestly I was too embarrassed to weigh myself.

I went from this in May '12:

to this by June 13:

Lakme Gel Artist in Electric Orange - Review

Gel nail paints are the rage abroad right now. Cured with the help of a UV Lamp - these gel paints offer much superior finish & last long.

When Lakme launched these nail paints, I was curious if they would give out tiny gel lamps like the Sally Hansen Gel Nail kit.
