Body Wash Round Up

This one is for Shweta, who requested a quick review of all the body washes I keep mentioning in my various posts & lists.

1. Biotique Apricot Gel Body Wash: It claims to be a soothing, refreshing bath gel containing Apricot Kernel Oil, wild Turmeric, Turmeric, Kurchi and Soap Nut. It is an excellent alternative for soap and is 100% soap free.

My Quick review:
This is a pretty decent body wash, it is a little bit low on lather (I suppose it is coz normal lathering ingredients have been replaced by soap nut), but this red body wash cleans without drying, is very gentle & won't even leave behind a soapy film on the skin post rinsing (which a lot of people hate. I actually like that - I like a veil of moisture on my skin, decreases my work)

2. Johnson's & Johnson's pH 5.5 Body Wash with Honey

My Quick Review:
I got this because of the pH factor. The pH of normal healthy skin is 5.5 as well. Most soaps are either alkaline or at best neutral. This one left my skin ve…

Nail Polish Tips

Lately I have been reading a lot of posts with Nail Art on display on beautiful lithe fingers and strong nails.

As much as I would love to replicate these myself, let me admit that I am a rather clumsy person. I can barely manage to apply a base, simple coat of nail paint without smudging it.

However along the way I have picked up some tips that help me get the best out of my nail paints.

If you are as clumsy and more importantly - impatient as me

1. Find a time when your nails can be dried without anything touching them: I always end up smudging up my nail paint. For some reason, nail paints take inordinately long to dry on my nails. At least upto an hour. And God forbid if during that hour I happen to eat, sleep, open the door et al. It gets spoilt, the gloss is gone. So now I have begun painting my nails,in the night, just before I sit down to check my mails. As I go about harvesting fields and serving pot roast on facebook, my nails get ample 2 hours to dry and the finish is perfec…

Pros: 1. This is by far the most gentle exfoliating scrub I have used till date. The exfoliant in this is a salt, it is very fine and granulated. Kind of like how a home made salt scrub would feel on the skin. 2. It leaves my skin baby soft. I was totally not expecting this. My skin is so soft after use, I can't stop touching it 3. Does not dry out the skin at all. 4. It seems to have helped cleanse my pores out. …

Tag: My Holy Grail Products

Shivani of Adorable on your Vanity did this wonderful Tag today. I really enjoyed reading her post and decided to do one my self. Thanks Shivani & here I go:

Best Eyeshadow Base: I don't use a base. I just use Palak's tip of mixing concealor with Ponds Oil Control Concentrate and it is working quite well (Thanks for this Palak)

Best Eyeshadow: Jordana's Hot Cocoa Single Eyeshadow is my go-to, but I am also liking Colorbar's Eyeshadow pallette in Warm. I just got it over a month ago & it is very pigmented but soft and staying power is good.

Best Eyeliner: Colorbar's Prunella. Makes my green eyes look very green, but the purple is a mysterious dark purple, not lilac - which I don't like!

Best Mascara: Maybelline Collosal Volume Mascara. But I also like Bourjois liner effet mascara for days when I am not in a hurry. (It takes tremendously long to dry)

Best Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Tint. It is very light, but gives full coverage. But I don&#…

Products of April 2010

1. This smells really nice. It is not that sickening synthetic chocolate smell that you will find in a lot of lip balms and glosses, but a deeper more refined natural fragrance. And the smell lingers on for quite some time even after you wash off the pack. This is a delight for the senses!

2. This is cream pack, not powder. I tend to prefer cream packs because I feel that they suit my dry skin better as opposed to powder packs that dry up.

3. It softens my skin to quite som…

The City of Resilience, No More.

Not a Beauty Post :-)

The Mumbai papers are full of two main news today

1. Ajmal Qasab has been pronounced guilty for 26/11

2. Motormen are on the second day of their hunger strike (as a result of which a lot of local trains are not working) - My office too is empty today, looks like I have come to work on a Saturday. It is a matter of debate if this is Gandhigiri or Gundagiri. Even the motormen are not too be blamed. They work long hours (Mumbai locals work for 22 hours daily) with very merge salaries.

I remember post 26/11 there was a lot of seething anger in the city, in its people. It still simmers somewhere.

This is a city that works hard, pays the highest income tax in country and is yet accorded second class status, while all that money generated by the city is used to beautify and build infrastructure in other politically stronger cities. The security system continues to remain lax in the city.

Each time I travel by the local train, I can see fear in people's eyes. Lot…
