The Body Shop Cheek & Lip Tint - Review

I just love tints. I love the lovely but natural color they impart. So it was obvious that I just could not resist the temptation to buy this much talked about tint. I have been eyeing this since a very long time, but the price just put me off. Then one day temptation got the better of me & I just went ahead & splurged. I have not regretted this buy since then.

About the product: This looks like a lip gloss, packaged in a see-through tube, the liquid is deep pink.  Body Shop retails only one color in India.

Best if you want to: Give cheeks a healthy glow and lips a wash of color with a dual-purpose stain that complements all complexions.

Best for: all skin tones

What it is designed to do:
  • Gel-based formulation is fast drying and easy to blend.
  • Glycerin and pathenol moisturize lips and improve hydration.
  • Angled applicator brush and well on the stem pack is designed for easy application, while minimizing product spillage.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Methylparaben, Aminomethyl Propanol, Red 33.

1. Lovely color: the shade is oh-so-natural; I have used it only on the lips, & it gives a very nice, just bitten look to the lips
2. Water-proof formula: this formula is water-resistant & lasts  long.
3. Buildable: You can increase the intensity of the color, by building layers on top. Just remember to let it dry in between application. While the color seems too dark in the tube, it shows up as a very light pink. Build layers to make it darker. It is almost water-like in its consistency & is not sticky or goopy like lip glosses.
4. Moisturizing: while most tints tend to dry out my lips, this one moisturizes & can be used directly on lips that are not so perfect (read: winter chapped). It does not highlight the dryness.
5. Fast Drying: Because the Lip & Cheek Stain is fast-drying, apply to one cheek at a time to allow more blendability.

1. Nothing!! Am just greedy & wld love to see this in more shades such as red.

Price: Rs. 695 for a tube (8 ml)

Will I buy it again: Yes! Yes! I just love this thing. I have very highly pigmented lips, and have learnt that I cannot be one of those girls who wears nudes & lighter shades. I just have to live with my dark pink lips. This tint has great staying power. Plus I love its light watery texture. & the color is just fab. As you can tell I am in love with it.

  1. ohh.. I am so glad !!
    U finally posted :)
evn I am eye-ing some stuff from body shop lately

and lip and cheek tint come in it !!
btw how does it compare to lakme cheek and lip tint ??

  2. Hey! Thks for being such an avid reader!!

This is way better compared to Lakme. Lakme is much cheaper at Rs. 120/-, but it cannot be used on lips that are even remotely chapped or dry. Plus it seemed to me to give a very uneven tint, it settles into lines & basically I didn't like the overall color & effect: It was very patchy. On the cheek too, it ended up highlighting my acne scars.

  3. OMG....price tag is too heavy :) i wud rather choose my vaseline rosy lips, i swear by that. have u ever tried that?

  4. @ Divija: we don't get this vaseline rosy lips here :D

  5. I love this! I prefer it over Benetint, its so much easier to use and there is no danger of spilling any product! Nice review! x

Reetha, Amla & Shikakai Home Made Shampoo - Weekend Experiment

Good Morning Lovelies, I hope your weekend was fun. Mines was, well, ho-hum, but anyways, we are not talking about that here (let’s save that cribbing for twitter).
I have been suffering from quite a bit of hair fall since some time. I have tried changing products to using intensive conditioning and the works. It stops the hair fall for while, but then it rears its ugly head again.
So on lark, & for lack of better things to do, my best friend & I decided to make some Reetha – Amla – Shikakai shampoo at home. This century old ayurvedic herbal concoction is reputed to not only strengthen hair, but also darken it and stop hair fall.
I got the 3 biggies from a local kirana store. All 3 are priced at 15 Rs for 100gms.

How to: Soak 5 pieces of Shikakai, 4 balls of Reetha  (Soapnut) & handful of Amla (Indian Gooseberry)  in about 500 ml of water overnight. In the morning, heat the mixture on gas till it just starts to boil. Let it cool, when lukewarm mash all the amla, reetha and…

Skin Care Myth: Sunscreen will stop you from Tanning

Image via Wikipedia I know I did a recent article on skin care myths (read it here), but I don't know how I forgot to mention this particular myth. In any case I think this warranted a post on its own.

Myth: If I use a suncreen regularly and religiously, I will not tan.

Fact: This is a very simplistic statement. But before I bust this myth, kindly bear through a science lecture. This is to bring all readers of all backgrounds on the same knowledge level.

Lets define sunscreen (from Wikipedia):Sunscreen (also commonly known as sunblock or sun cream) is a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects "some" of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the skin exposed to sunlight and thus helps protect against sunburn. Sunscreen helps protect only against direct DNA damage as it cannot dissipate UV as harmless heat.

The SPF of a sunscreen is a laboratory measure of the effectiveness of sunscreen — the higher the SPF, the more protection a sunscreen …

I made "Washed Ghee" at home and it turned out great!

Yesterday I posted about the importance of fat in our diet. While doing research for the same I came across the recipe for "Washed Ghee" or Shata Dhaut Ghrita (100 times washed ghee).

After I read about this miracle at home cream, it was inevitable that I would try to create this cream myself. All I needed apparently was some cow ghee & water.

So I made it last evening. And here is how it went.

For those readers who haven't read the earlier post: Hundred times washed ghee is prepared from organic cow milk ghee by washing it in purified water, repeatedly, 100 times in a copper vessel, using a specific prescribed method while chanting some mantras

This procedure transforms the ghee into a soft, cooling, nourishing, silky unguent that is used as a traditional moisturizer and anti wrinkle skin cream. It produces radiant and glowing skin, especially for people with easily inflamed skin. It can be used as a daily face and body moisturizer or for facial massage. Apply it for…
