Himalaya Almond and Cucumber Peel Off Face Mask - Review

What it claims:
Unclogs pores. Peels away blemishes to leave a healthy, glowing skin. Almond nourishes, soothes and softens the skin. Cucumber tones your facial skin and provides cooling effect. Pineapple removes impurities and dead tissues, and firms up the skin. Indian Gooseberry (Amla) has cleansing and anti-oxidant properties.
Directions for Use:
Apply evenly over cleansed face and neck, avoiding the area around eyes. Allow it to dry for 10–15 minutes. Gently remove the peel from the side of the face. Use once or twice a week. Do not apply on broken or inflamed skin. Follow up with Himalaya Herbals Face Moisturizing Lotion.
Indications:
Almond and Cucumber Peel-off Mask can be used for all skin types.
Price:
Almond and Cucumber Peel-off Mask is available in pack sizes of 75ml for Rs. 100/-.
Key Ingredients: Each ml contains:

Pineapple (Ananas comosus) – 25 mg
Almond (Prunus amygdalus) – 15 mg
Cucumber (Cucumis sativa) – 10 mg
Indian Gooseberry (Emblica officinalis) – 5 mg

Pros:
1.  It is very gentle. Unlike a lot of other face packs you will not experience any stinging sensation with this
2.  It does dry quickly – within 15 minutes max. I generally don’t like masks that take forever to dry.
3.  It does make the skin soft and absorbs excess oil from the skin and pores.
4.  I generally don’t buy peel off masks as they never seem to come off evenly and then I have bits of peel stuck on my face and sometimes it even gets into my hair (those stray flicks) – but I found a way around this by washing my face with plain water post application. It dissolves all those itsy-bitsy bits stuck to my face.
 Cons:
1.  This is just ok. Frankly it didn’t work for me. My skin looked pretty much the same post using the pack. It didn’t look any cleaner nor was there any spectacular glow of any sort. But then I do exfoliate on a daily basis so maybe there weren’t too many dead cells or impurities for the mask to remove in the first place.
2. Am not sure this is a con with the product or just my mistake. When applied too thin, it peels off very painfully. I hated the way it tugged on my skin and pulled it, I had to wash it off as I hated the feeling. But this didn't happen when I had applied a tick layer. So you might wanna be a little extravagant with the product when using it.

Will I buy this again: Not likely. This thing is not completely a dud through. It did leave my skin softer and less oily post application - but the softness wasn't anything great. I get the same results when I apply honey on my face. So I really don't see the point of using this when I can make do with honey or curd - both of which are cheaper and readily available in any case.
Am on the fence for this. This may work for some people - especially those with very oily skin or those who need to firm up their skin.

  1. heyy tanveer, i didn't know that himalaya had this product! i will definitely try it soon as peel off masks work well for me.

the only peel off mask i've used is everyuth's golden glow. i use it about once a week, especially on days i have something special to attend. after using it, my skin (you know i have dry skin), especially on the nose and cheeks feels relatively smoother and cleaner. the only drawback is that the effects are very temporary, lasting no longer than a couple of hours.

i agree with the pain part. removal is most uncomfortable from around the temple area.

I use peel off masks coz they feel cathartic in a way. I just feel satisfied after using them. :P

Yea, peel off masks can be good for dry skin as they also exfoliate dry flakes revealing better skin :)

  5. @Palak: Hey! so nice to see u! :D

It does happen, sometimes some brands don't suit us. A

re you talking about Himalaya's mud like green face mask? That completely dried my skin out. I wld use it in my teens (I had acne then, against which it was very effective) but it gave me very very dry skin.. So then i began using it only for spot treatment. It was very good at that :D

  9. Errr...I am so scared of all that tugging and pullings on my face. I think I'll let it go for good. :P I actually don't use masks an all, I prefer face packs and scrubs. I am sad that this didn't work great on you because cucumber and almond is such a deadly combo. Now I am upset. :D

  10. @Rati: I know.. when i bought the thing my mind went into overdrive at the combo - the bleaching & nourishing effect of almonds & the toning of cucumber.. add to tht pineapple and amla - all tht Vitamin C. I thght "wow".. I have to get this..

Maybe it isn't meant for me.. :D

  11. Gosh!!I hav nvr tried peel off masks-I jst get scared by the idea of them- I hate having things dried n sticking on my face- I suppose eventually later some really good one will come n I might change my mind!!
Also I think u shld do masks only when ur a little older-True or false??

  12. @Simran: I can get it for you in case u want to try this :P

Yea, u r right... at yr age a simple clean-up (if needed) is enough.

For masks opt for natural home made stuff like simple besan & milk, or honey with paste of crushed almonds.

Avoid heavy duty masks of clay & all unless u have severe oily skin - tht too do it just once a fortnight.

All firming, tightening masks shd start post 25 to 27..

  14. @Claris: Hey, Welcome!

I know what u mean.. It specially seems to hurt when i apply a very thin layer.. I too just don't know what to do with this..

Am thinking of using this as a pack for my feet and hands. Might do them some good as they really don't get a lot of attention from me :P

  15. I have this mask currently lying in my skincare cabinet. I use it occasionally and almost always when I have a skin irritation cuz it helps in cooling off skin and relieving rash and/or pain. The mask I use almost every other other day and also as a spot treatment for zits is Himalaya's Neem Pack (with Turmeric and Fuller's Earth). I love it. But I moisturize intensively after using it.
