Lakme Honey & Avocado Winter Perfect Day Lotion - Review

What it claims: Hydrate and rejuvenate your skin this winter with Lakme Fruit Moisture Honey & Avocado Winter Perfect Day Lotion with SPF. With extracts of honey & avocado, this moisturizing milk works into your skin immediately. It conditions the skin and provides 12 hour moisturisation leaving your skin soft and aglow even in harsh winters. with added SPF this day lotion also gives you sun protected skin, setting you up to fully enjoy the day.

Usage: Smooth on a dollop over cleansed face and neck for soft, smooth moisturized skin all day.

Caution: Avoid contact with eyes.

Ingredients: aqua, glycerin, mineral oil, stearic acid, palmitic acid, cetearyl octanoate, ethylhexyl palmitate, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, cyclopentasilicone, cetyl acetate, glyceryl stearate, dimethicone, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetyl alcohol, potassium cetyl phosphate, ethylhexyl salicylate, perfume, magnesium aluminium silicate, Shea butter, cocoa seed butter, titanium dioxide, potassium lactate, tocopheryl acetate, sodium hydroxide, carbomer, disodium edta, sodium pca, retinyl palmitate, propylene glycol, honey extract, avocado fruit extract, CI 15985, phenoxyethanol, methyl paraben, butyl paraben, ethyl paraben, propyl paraben

Pros:
1. This white, runny lotion, quite to my surprise, moisturises well. It absorbs quickly and hydrates for a good 5 -7 hours. I feel the need for a top up after that.

2. It smells real yummy! Very fruity :). The texture is light but moisturises well. It does not feel oily or sticky, and neither does it form a film or coat on the skin.

3. Has Shea butter & Cocoa butter. I generally break out with cocoa butter rich creams, surprisingly I didn't break out with this.

4. Very economically priced, as a result you can be really lavish when moisturising, no need to skimp.

Cons:
1. SPF value of sunscreens added to it has not been mentioned. For all that I know, it could be as low as SPF 2 or as high as SPF 20.

2. The moisturising effect on me did not last for 12 hours like the product claims. It lasts only for 6-7 hours on me. But then I do have dry skin and spend all my day in air-conditioning so that might be the reason for it

3. The product claims to contain the goodness of honey & avocado. If you go through the ingredient listings, you will see that these two products are listed at the end. Ingredients are always listed from maximum amount added, listed first and then on. By that logic, this product may contain too little of honey or avocado to do any good. Might be just a marketing ploy, one of those motivational/angel ingredients.

4. I didn't like the flip - top cover. The opening is too big and generally, if you are not careful or using this for the first time, a lot of lotion just comes gushing out. Much more than what is needed. Lakme of course suggests that we use dollops of it - I just use a 50p coin sized all over my face, neck and hands.

Will I recommend this: Yes, to normal & dry skinned gals on a budget. It is perfect for daytime lotion in mild winters. It won't leave your skin shiny or greasy looking and it does the job well. This is a big improvement over their peach milk moisturiser.

Have you tried this lotion?

This product was sent to me by the Company / PR for my consideration, that however, has not affected my review or opinion in any way.

  3. @Shuchita: They have another lotion in their range - Daily Glow Peach & Plum - I felt that was lighter than this one. Will be reviewing it soon, that might suit you better! :) Yea, that basket was really nice. I liked it so much I am still storing all these things in them :P

@HD: Yea, it exceeded my expectations to tell you the truth :).. I didn't expect it to be this nice.

Stuck in a small town with no skincare prdts - I would immediately buy this & use it without hesitation. Lakme has a great supply chain. I saw this entire range in Jabalpur - I was impressed ;)

I think herbal, fruits, organic, natural are the new buzz words in marketing. I personally feel that the lotion is actually has a lot of chemicals - but it is being promoted like it contains nothing but fruits.

  4. You've started putting up photos. Me likes.

I agree with you - a lot of brands advertise their products as having some awesome natural ingredient, even if it is in the least amount possible. I find this happening across several brands & it's really annoying! Another annoyance is that the SPF factor is not mentioned.

In any case, I'm a bit J that there are so many awesome new products for dry skinned gals. Can't wait for your review of the daily glow one.

  5. @Poohkie: Yea, hubby got a new camera for Diwali & the blog is benefitting from it. Though I am not as good as Cynthia & the rest at pics & swatches. :)

I find that so irritating - false, misleading advertising! "Fortified with the goodness of Blah, blah" - when u read the ingredient list it is just a bunch of chemicals with natural stuff right at the bottom with preservatives..

Actually I think the sudden spurt of moisturisers has more to do with the upcoming winters than the concern for us dry skinned gals :)... I'll be reviewing the glow one after a week :)

  10. i got this too... its smells fabulous... i have dry skin and i found it hydrating to apply as a body lotion. Not sufficient for the face..i think the creme might be better suited for the face.. Has anyone tried the creme out??
