Is that a Golden Twinkle in your Eye?

Gold seems to be the color of the season, right from Lakme’s gold tinged Fantasy collection to L’oreal’s L’or L’or L’or collection showcased at Cannes 2011. This is good news for us, we Indian’s have a love of all things golden. This noble metallic shade plays beautifully with our warm, yellow skintones & hazel tinged eyes. A cult favorite for bridal wear, here are some fun ways translate the look:

Simply apply gold shadow and liner (I love the Diana of London Shooting Stars range, you could even try Colorbar) paired with curled mascaraed lashes and rosy beige lipstick.

If you are good at blending, you could even attempt a golden smoky eyes. Apply white gold on the inner corners and on the lids, bronze in the crease and underneath the lash lines, and a neutral gold to highlight the brow bones. In eyeshadows, MUFE Aqua Cream in # 11 - Gold is a nice option. In budget try Maybelline’s Give Me Gold Quad.

Gold as Highlighter
You can incorporate gold in your used a gold powder shadow along the inner corners of the eyes to open them up and a Champaign, gold-flecked shade in the brow bone to create a neutral, gold toned look to go with any other eyeshadows of your choice.

A hint of shimmery gold shadow in the inner corners instantly brightens up a black smoky eye.

A shimmery gold highlighter topped the cheekbones looks just as nice – try Lakme’s Gold Dust Shimmer Bronzer.

Navy Blue with Gold
Don’t want to do just plain gold, take a tip from the sailors & pair it with navy blue. Use gold eyeshadow all over the lid, navy blue eyeliner & a touch of navy blue in the crease.

Gold Everyday
Find gold too garish? Try Bronze or Copper – both are a wonderful way to wear gold with some intensity. For everyday, try MAC Teddy – a bronze brown on the lower waterline to add a touch of gold to your everyday look.

In blush, try Lakme’s Cheek Artist in Peach – this is a wonderful pink peach blush flecked with golden shimmer – you get to flaunt the trend, at the same time it is office safe.

Lips for Golden Eyes?
Wondering what to pair with your golden eyes – You could go simple & opt for rosy pink, but Gold shadow and glossy red lips (Revlon Colorburst – True Red) look classic paired with a neutral clothes such as whites, creams, light greys and camels beiges. Pair it with a natural-colored blush.

Gold worn all over
Gold can also be used as a part of body makeup — the Lakme All Over Shimmer Gloss is perfect for this purpose. If you use this on the face (cheek bones) just make sure to add a taupe blush and a little pink to your lips so you don't look washed out.
