Colorbar Nail Polish Remover - Review

It claims: to be

  • acetone free
  • toluene free
  • DBP free
  • with protein & vitamin B5 to strengthen nails
  • instantly removes nail lacquer
  • natural emolliant, conditions the nail
Ingredients: Ethyl Acetate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Demineralised water, Propylene Glycol, isopropyl myristate, methyl ethyl ketone, lanolin oil, bht, ethyl cellusolve, d-panthenol, perfume. (For those of you who are interested in finding out more about these ingredients - the names have been linked to their wikipedia pages - you can read up)

Price: Rs. 125/- for 110 ml bottle

What I liked:

1. Most importantly this never dries out my nails. True to it's claim it is gentle compared to acetone removers

2. The bottle is really nice - the black cover is a screw on cover & inside there is a central perforation from which the remover can be used. I prefer this to bottles with stoppers (a lot of acetone removers have such bottles) - they invariably damage my nails.

3. It removes nail paint quite efficiently - you don't need to keep rubing a lot.

4. it claims to be acetone, toluene & DBP free (the big 3). I find acetone very drying for my nails so I prefer this.

5. Full ingredient listing. Me likes.

What could be better:

1. Price is not mentioned anywhere. Any unscruplous SA can charge more - ther is no way to verify.

Would I re-purchase: Yes, I don't like acetone based removers. They dry out my nail sterribly & in fact I used to shy away from using nail paint because of that. This remover is very gentle, it gets the work done, without the driness (please note that there is some little driness but nothing that a quick swipe of lotion can't resolve. Compared to an acetone remover, I find this to be extremly gentle)

  1. I have used this too long time back. Loved it. Plus not that expensive either. But what I do now is buy this http://nailsandbeauty.in/catalog/product_info.php/strawberry-nail-remover-500ml-p-456?manufacturers_id=6 online which is like 500ml for Rs.625 cause i don't feel like going to the mall again n again just to buy nail polish remover lol. I'm lazy that way XD.

  5. i liked the bottle and acetone removers generally makes my nails fragile so i prefer these kinds..there was this Lakme oil nail polish remover(dont remember the exact name) that was the best one but I think it has been discontinued now. This will be the safest bet .

@Shrilata: Colorbar prdts unfortunately do tend to suffer from availabilty issue at least here in Mumbai - they go out of stock for months on end. I hope you find it easily :)
