Himalaya Protein Hair Cream - Review

It Claims: Nourishes your hair with Natural Proteins derived from ingredients like Wheatgerm and Chickpea.
Indian Gooseberry and Thistles promote hair growth.
Use regularly before and after shampooing for well nourished, soft and shiny hair.
It contains Chanaka (Chickpea), which is a rich and natural source of protein that helps in hair growth along with Godhuma (Wheatgerm) which is also a good source of protein and vitamin E.
Amalaki (Indian Gooseberry), acts as an anti-oxidant and hair growth promoter while Bhringaraja (Thistles) strengthens hair root and prevents hair fall. Protein hair cream nourishes hair root and shaft.

Indications:

Dry and lifeless hair and hair fall.

Ingredients Include:

  • Cicer arietinum (Bengal Gram, Chanaka)
  • Triticum sativum (Common Wheat, Godhuma)
  • Emblica officinalis (Indian Gooseberry, Amalaki)
  • Eclipta prostrata (Thistles, Bhringaraja)

Use Directions:

Massage gently on scalp in circular motion. Use regularly. Suitable for all hair types. Safe to use on artificially colored or permed hair. Recommended with Himalaya Protein Shampoo.

Price: Rs. 100 for 175 gm tub

What I liked:
1. The price is really nice. For 100 bucks you get a tub full of cream that lasts at least 4 months with regular weekly usage

2. The product smells very, very nice.

3. When used with soft water, it makes the hair very soft and so smooth. I generally apply this and leave it overnight.

4. It is not oily, non-drippy and does not stain clothes.

5. It purportedly contains a lot of good stuff like Chickpea, amla & wheatgerm.

6. Safe for use on relaxed hair.

What I didn't like:
1. I was originally planning to write this review a good 2 months earlier. At that point I was very impressed with this product. Since the last 2 months I have been using this, with hard, bore well water. And unfortunately it doesn't work as well. The product doesn't rinse off, and worst of all reacts with the water to give me dandruff as well causes hair loss.

2. Complete list of ingredients has not been given.

Would I re-purchase: Earlier I was planning to. The product itself is awesome & works very well with soft water. Enter hard water and it just doesn't suit my hair. I'll be skipping this, until the water situation changes at my place.

  4. @Ginger & Sunaa: Thanks! :D

@Anks: I had no idea how much water affects the product performance before I used this. I guess Himalaya shd test this out with hard water as well. I'm back to using my Loreal spa mask these days :D

  9. HI Gals'

I am not sure if it's a guy's cream or gal's cream, but I have been using this since last 1 month , once in a day, after taking bath instead of using Brylcream and My hairfall has become almost nil.

Haha..it seems this product clicked it's worth with my hair pretty well and I just love it.

    Thanks,
    Arunava
