Shades reviewed: Aubergine & Peony.

What I liked:

1. The formula is awesome, it is not sticky, it is moisturizing, it doesn't feel heavy on the lips and it layers on very well.

2. I like the straight tipped applicator. I generally dislike the slanted applicators in most glosses as I feel they deposit too much gloss. Even Jordana LOL lipglosses have such straight applicators & I love them!

3. I love the huge range of colors - some of them are very unique, like Rose Gold & Gold Dust. So they have your regular shades like red, peach, berry in creamy non-shimmer shades, but I feel it is the shimmery ones in this line that pack a punch, they are very complex and some of the shades are really interesting

4. Peony is an Nars Orgasm Blush dupe - it is the same pale peachy pink with gold shimmer. It is quite light in color & I find that it is a lovely way to do up my lips with smokey eyes. The shimmer is very fine, doesn't feel gritty and makes the lips look very "glassy". This one doesn't cover pigmentation well, as the shade is on the sheerer side. I suggest you use a lip pencil under this. If you find that peach shades look too orange on you (like they do on me) - this is a good way to wear a wash of peach tempered with pink. Use a pink or peach pencil underneath depending on what shade you want to emphasise. You can read an actual comparison with Nars Orgasm lip gloss with swatches here

5. Aubergine is a creamy plummy shade with an almost negligible amount of shimmer. It covers pigmentation well yet goes on sheerly. It is like a glossy, one shade deeper version of my natural lips.

6. Lasts for 2-3 hours.

What could be better:

1. They could be cheaper. I could buy a lot more then. :-)

2. They aren't exactly color matched to the lipsticks. I was hoping there would be a gloss version of Soft Rose.

3. If you've dug your heels in the "I don't wanna see shimmer in anything" group, then your choices in this are limited. Even some of the creamier shades that appear non-shimmery, actually have a tinsy-winsy bit of shimmer also to help them look glossy.

Would I repurchase: Yes, I'm planning to get Fire as I don't have a red lipgloss yet, and maybe also take a look at Rose Gold / Gold Duct or a similar lighter shade to use with my new nude lipstick - Maybelline Luminous Beige.

  9. I love aubergine!
    :)

I wish they made it cheaper but going by how they hiked colorburst lipstick prices - i think they wud only go upwards!

    Sigh....

  11. I almost got Peony coz of it's similarity to Nars Orgasm, but I have mostly peachy l/gs, so decided against it. Aubergine must look so pretty on u T.
