MAC Amplified Creme Cosmo Lipstick - Review
Color (as described by MAC): Pink Coco (what ever that means!)

What I liked:
1. It smells of vanilla - like your typical MAC lipsticks :-)
2. Permanent range. (Yes, I'm running out of good things to say about this lipstick)

2. The color is a bit terrible on me. It is not soft enough to go with a smoky eye - it just sits there on the lips like a stark pink, and it is not strong enough to be worn by itself. It has this weird dark reddish mauve undertones (and no brown on me), it pretty much makes my eyes look duller and skin blotchy. And the formula just makes it worse. I have tried this many ways - blotted, with gloss (looks worse). This is going B2M full.

Overall: I don't like this lipstick color & neither do I like the finish. I guess I'm more of a satin or matt finish gal. The color is a dark red mauve, which is not a good color on me. I would have liked this to be more pink and less mauve. It is too dark and at the same time, dull. Admittedly I did try this at the store, before purchasing. So can't really blame anyone but myself. I shouldn't let hype carry me away when making decisions.
It washes me out....so I never bought it and I feel its over hyped...nice post :)

ReplyDeleteThis one washes me out too :( too bad coz the shade in tube looks really like something i could wear everyday, btw i decided to ditch the sober nudes and go with va va voom bright-Impassioned ;)

DeleteI agree Tanveer..this is a much hyped shade..i tried it at the store n hated how it washed me out..i don like the glossy effect wither..twig is a much better choice..do try twig next time..u wil fall in lov..:)
ReplyDeleteTwig is a better shade, I have tried it. But it was very similar to this Revlon Rose Velvet lipstick I have so I skipped it. :)
DeleteDamn! Sad it didnt work out for u...it's a big pinch when a mac doesn't work out and I know exacly how that feels...sigh... Thankfully this works well on me ...was my first mac Lippy and I still adore it. :)

DeleteI hate it too when I buy something and then I can't make it work...and then keep thinking why didn't I pick the other one? I should have tried it out once more blah blah..too bad it doesn't work on u..simply looking at the pics u'd think it wld..

I love this lipstick... one of the pinks I like... only thing is it doesnt last too long cause of the consistency...but leaves a stain...i like it

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you didn't like it. Amplified is actually one of my favorite finishes from MAC, I find their matte ones far too drying on my lips. I hear you on it being too creamy though, I usually blend it into my lips quite a bit and then blot to give it more of a soft semi-matte finish.
ReplyDeleteI know how upsetting it can be when ur looking forward to a product and it doesn't work for u. Personally, I love this colour...great for daily wear on my skin tone. And though amplified creme finishes aren't long lasting, I like those too coz I can just apply and rush out in a jiffy.
